Athens Park Pool Renovation Records Detail Deck and Plaster Repairs, Not a Confirmed Reopening Date

ATHENS VILLAGE, LOS ANGELES COUNTY — October 31, 2026. Records show that Los Angeles County has planned swimming-pool safety repairs at Athens Park, an important recreational facility near Broadway in South Los Angeles.

A May 29, 2025 state environmental notice explains that parts of the Athens Park pool deck and plaster had deteriorated, including cracking that officials said needed repair to prevent further damage or safety concerns. The county’s proposed project would renovate portions of the deck and replace the plaster.

What has been documented

The swimming pool is near a historic pool house within Athens Park, at 12603 S. Broadway. The filing also describes earlier improvements, including updated lighting on the deck and underwater lighting intended to support extended pool operations.

Although the project appears in official records, environmental filing does not prove work completion or an opening date. The document does not, on its own, establish whether swimming is currently available, whether repair work remains, or what fees apply today.
