ATHENS VILLAGE, LOS ANGELES COUNTY — October 31, 2026. LA County Parks’ Every Body Plays program provides a free after-school recreation option for school-age children in unincorporated communities, including at Athens Park.
The county’s fall 2026 announcement schedules the program for September 1, 2026, through May 21, 2027, generally Monday through Friday, 2:30–6 p.m.. Activities may involve homework help, sports, games, arts and crafts, technology, and outdoor exploration.
Important rules for caregivers
Every Body Plays is described by the county as a free, non-custodial drop-in recreation program for ages 7–17. It is not a guaranteed substitute for supervised childcare, and parents should verify check-in and check-out expectations. Registration is not normally required, but space and individual activities vary by site.
Athens Park appears on the county’s published list of program locations at 12603 S. Broadway, Los Angeles. The official park directory lists (323) 241-6700 as a contact number. Ask park staff to confirm that the advertised weekday hours apply at Athens and whether special field trips or school-holiday schedules affect participation.
The free youth snack program is related but has separate eligibility, schedules and food-service rules; families should verify both when planning a visit.
